27 August 2008 - Zürich, Switzerland - Usain Bolt, the Jamaican who dominated the sprints on the super-fast track of the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Bejing winning three Olympic gold medals and setting fabulous World records in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay, will be in the spotlight again on Friday evening (29 August) at the Weltklasse Zürich meeting in the Letzigrung Stadium where the ÅF Golden League 2008 resumes after the Olympic Games.
This was a story of three throwers, the Olympic new comer Aksana Miankova of Belarus, who had previously failed to pass beyond the qualification round at either world or continental championship level in her career, and two ‘old’ Olympic stagers from this young event, 2000 fourth placer and 2004 silver medallist Yipsi Moreno of Cuba, and home girl Wenxiu Zhang who was 7th in Athens.

26 August 2008 – Among the countless Beijing performances that dazzled the world over 10 sensational days of Olympic athletics was Tia Hellebaut’s shock defeat of World champion Blanka Vlasic in the women’s High Jump. The pair will meet again on Friday when the ÅF Golden League resumes at Zurich’s Weltklasse, just one of several encore performances that will light up the Letzigrund stadium infield.
