Tuiyange, Muthoni take Nairobi Marathon victories

26 October 2008 - Nairobi, Kenya - Samson Kikwei Tuiyange and Emma Muthoni were the new winners of the 2008 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon, billed as the biggest single mass participation event in East Africa, on a cool cloudy morning today in the Kenyan capital.



Naumov and Zyusko take Dublin Marathon victories

28 October 2008 - Dublin, Ireland - In dry but cold conditions, Dublin city was alive to the pounding feet of a record-breaking 11,700 athletes on the October Bank Holiday Monday (27).



Kraus to defend women’s title; Kenyans set for romp in men’s race – Frankfurt Marathon

24 October 2008 – Frankfurt, Germany – It looks a certainty that a Kenyan runner will win the men’s race at the Dresdner Kleinwort Frankurt Marathon on Sunday (26). However, the women’s elite division which includes defending champion Melanie Kraus would seem to a contest between Germany and Russia.



Kalovics, Lomala victorious in Venice

26 October 2008 – Venice, Italy - Running in sunny and warm conditions, Aniko Kalovics from Hungary and Joseph Lomala from Kenya took the honours at the 23nd edition of the Venice Marathon.



In debut, unknown Cheruiyot smashes Frankfurt Marathon record

26 October 2008 - Frankfurt, Germany - Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot smashed the course record in the Dresdener Kleinwort Frankfurt Marathon Sunday morning, clocking two hours, seven minutes, 21 seconds. And on his debut, no less.

27 October 2008 - San Juan - Cuba's three-time Olympian and 1968 relay silver medallist Pablo Montes died on Sunday at the age of 62, victim of a heart attack.

29 October 2008 – With the exception of breaking a World record you can’t ask much more of an athlete than to win a major global title with a championship record but Australia’s Steve Hooker did exactly that in Beijing this summer when he improved by one centimetre the 5.95m mark with which USA’s Tim Mack had secured the 2004 Olympic Pole Vault crown.
