2008 WORLD ATHLETES OF THE YEAR - AND THE FINALISTS ARE...
10 November 2008 - Monte-Carlo – Following the poll of the IAAF Family and the votes of the Internet fans, the IAAF has selected the three male and the three female finalists who are still in the running to become the 2008 World Athlete of the Year.

Sri Lanka athletics benefiting from Sport for Peace initiative

4 December 2008 – A Sports for Peace programme originally implemented in 2006 in the conflict torn island nation of Sri Lanka with the assistance of funding from the Government of Australia, has developed in the last two years throughout the country assisting the development of Sri Lanka athletics.

‘Hurricane’ Bezabeh defeats World XC silver medallist Komon in Atapuerca

10 November 2008 - Atapuerca (Burgos), Spain - Spain’s Alemayehu Bezabeh and Kenya’s Margaret Muriuki kicked off the new Spanish cross country season successfully by capturing fine victories in the fifth edition of the ‘Cross Internacional de Atapuerca’  held yesterday (9) on a cold and windy day for weather.

4 December 2008 - Brno, Czech Republic - The 5th annual Moravia High Jump Tour will take place in January 2009 in two Czech cities, Trinec (21 Jan) and Hustopece on (24 Jan) with nearly the same field of competitors at both meetings, who will use the same format of jumping to music.

IAAF Cross Country season 2008 / 2009 commences in Portugal

11 November 2008 - Monte-Carlo - The ten individual meetings which make up the calendar of IAAF Cross Country Permit Series 2008/09 begin next weekend in Oeiras, Portugal, on Saturday 15 November 2008, and conclude in Fukuoka, Japan on Sunday 7 March 2009.
